Driven nonlinear damping and mode coupling in a superconducting levitated magnet

چکیده
The magnetic flux pinning phenomenon enables high-$Q$ trapping of a magnet above superconductor. In practice, the trapped can undergo nonlinear mode coupling and dissipation as its vibration induce variations field vortex displacement on superconductor surface. Here we study interactions between vibrational modes levitated mirror superconducting disk in vacuum conditions. We observe that by exciting one mirror, noise another be suppressed more than 17 dB. attribute this unique suppression mechanism to caused driven inhomogeneity object. results suggest reduction is possible driving orthogonal mode.

Mode-Coupling and Nonlinear Landau Damping Effects in Auroral Farley-Buneman Turbulence
The fundamental problem of Farley-Buneman turbulence in the auroral E-region has been discussed and debated extensively in the past two decades. In the present paper we intend to clarify the different steps that the auroral E-region plasma has to undergo before reaching a steady state. The mode-coupling calculation, for Farley-Buneman turbulence, is developed in order to place it in perspective...
متن کاملA New Superconducting Levitated-mass System
A new superconducting levitated-mass system is now being developed with the final target of replacing the kilogram in terms of the fundamental constants. Improving the stability of trajectory by means of introducing a superconducting linear bearing is the issue in question for the first stage of this development. The present status of the development, experimental results and further prospects ...
متن کاملFirst integrated test of the superconducting magnet systems for the Levitated Dipole Experiment (LDX)
The Levitated Dipole Experiment (LDX) is an innovative approach to explore the magnetic confinement of a fusion plasma offering the possibility of an improved fusion power source. In this concept, a magnetic dipole (a superconducting solenoid) is magnetically levitated for several hours at the center of a 5 m diameter, 3 m tall vacuum chamber. The Floating coil (F-coil) is designed for a maximu...
متن کاملThe Superconducting Levitated Dipole Experiment (LDX)
The Levitated Dipole Experiment (LDX) explores the physics of high-temperature plasmas confined by a dipole magnetic field. Stable high-beta plasma has been created and confined by the magnetic field of a superconducting coil. Discharges containing trapped electrons form when microwaves cause strong perpendicular heating at cyclotron resonance. To eliminate the losses to the supports, the magne...
متن کاملNonlinear mode coupling in pair plasmas
Pulsar magnetospheres are composed of electron-positron plasmas characterised by broadband electromagnetic emission, the source of which remains elusive. This paper investigates one possible emission mechanism in which electrostatic oscillations are coupled to propagating electromagnetic waves by the magnetic field inhomogeneity, thus creating a source of radiation in the pulsar magnetosphere. ...
